Job Description:
Garrett Technologies is seeking a proven engineering leader to direct product development activities across multiple, concurrent programs serving the medical device and commercial/industrial markets.
This position requires leading multidisciplinary teams of engineers, project managers, and technicians in the full life-cycle design and development of complex products.
In this role, you will apply your leadership and technical expertise to plan, organize, and supervise engineering activities, provide technical direction, and ensure projects are completed efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
You will provide hands-on technical guidance across embedded software, electrical, and mechanical design, requirements definition, architecture, integration, verification, and testing.
This is a full-time, on-site position at our Northbrook, IL facility.
Qualifications:
BS or MS in Engineering with 12+ years’ experience in full life-cycle product development, preferably in the medical device industry.
Proven ability to plan and manage multiple concurrent development projects.
Strong working knowledge of ISO 13485 and demonstrated experience implementing compliant product development processes.
Experience leading teams developing products to IEC 60601-1 and related collateral/particular standards.
Familiarity with regulatory pathways for FDA 510(k), PMA, and EU MDR submissions.
Experience directing the development of embedded software, PCBA design, and mechanical assemblies through transfer to production.
Proficiency with project management and product lifecycle tools (Atlassian Confluence/JIRA, JAMA, MS Project preferred).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational and leadership abilities.
PMP certification is a plus.
ELECTRONICS Engineering TECHNICIAN
Job Description:
Garrett Technologies is seeking a versatile electronics technician to assist in creating innovative solutions for a diverse range of products.
In this role you will be a member of our design and development engineering team, responsible for prototyping, testing, debugging, and repairing electronic subassemblies.
Responsibilities include:
Fabricating prototype designs and coordinating prototype builds from engineering drawings and specifications.
Keeping accurate records of work performed.
Identifying and procuring components, supplies, and lab equipment.
Coordinating calibration of lab equipment
Troubleshooting and repairing electronics assemblies.
Testing of products and documentation of test results.
Working with production suppliers to assist in transfer of designs to production.
This is a full-time contract position working on-site at our Northbrook, IL facility.
Qualifications:
Associates or bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering Technology.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an electronics technician position.
Strong problem-solving skills and good attention to detail.
Ability to solder and assemble circuit boards and cable assemblies.
Demonstrated ability to use electronics test equipment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with methods of mechanical component fabrication.
Experience working in a medical device quality system is a plus.
PROJECT MANAGER
Job Description:
Garrett Technologies is seeking a versatile project manager to lead product development for a large technology platform migration.
The job will require leading a team of electrical and software engineers in full life-cycle design and development activities for a family of products.
In this role, you will utilize your organizational and leadership skills to plan and supervise tasks for a team of 6-10 engineers and communicate project status to management and clients.
The project manager will contribute technical expertise and leadership to tasks including embedded software engineering, electrical design, requirements definition, architecture, integration, and testing.
Qualifications:
BS or MS in Engineering with 8+ years’ experience in full life-cycle product development.
Ability to plan and manage tasks to deliver projects on schedule.
Experience leading the development of software utilizing structured development methodologies.
Experience leading the design of electronic PCBA’s through transfer to production.
Expertise in utilizing project management or PLM tools, requirements management tools, and issue tracking tools (Atlassian Confluence & JIRA, MS Project experience a plus)

V& V Engineer
Job Description:
Garrett is seeking an experienced V&V engineer for support of the development and testing of medical devices.
In this role, you will provide verification expertise to support design and development of software-controlled, electronic, Class II and III medical devices.
The job will require creation and review of verification plans, protocols, and reports for medical devices in an ISO-13485 compliant quality system.
This role will involve system-level, integration, and unit-level testing of medical device systems and software, including verification of compliance to standards.
You will work in small teams or independently to execute contract engineering projects for a variety of clients.
Qualifications:
BS or MS in Engineering with 5+ years’ experience in verification and/or design of medical devices.
Experience developing verification & validation plans and protocols for testing system and software requirements for medical devices in an IEC-62304 compliant process is required.
Experience using requirements management and issue tracking tools is desirable.
Knowledge of ISO-13485 compliant processes and GDP required.
Ability to troubleshoot issues to determine root cause is a plus.

This role may also involve creating quality system integration plans for aligning Garrett Technologies’ processes with clients’ quality systems.
